Tragic in any case, but I really hope these two guys were not cyclists just out for a pleasant ride....

That's so tragic! I hope they weren't cyclists who were murdered.

Remember when Matthew Shepherd was discovered by cyclists? I can't imagine how shocking it was for them.

How awful. Hope I'm never in a situation to find bodies. We had a tragedy over the weekend where a bicyclist was struck by a car and the dragged several feet. The car the jumped the curb and struck a sign, thus freeing the cyclists body, before fleeing the scene. The bicycle rider was killed, and the driver turned himself in a few days later. The driver was speeding, and had to be treated for injuries at a local hospital the night of the accident. Authorities had been looking for him. Apparently the cyclist was riding near his home when struck.

I hate these kind of stories- very sad for them and their families. The sad one I heard this week was that the grandson of an Alabama senator was found beside the interstate w/the door open, no keys, and his body over the embankment. He had been missing at least a week and someone used his debit card as well. He was shot. Here's the updated story. Poor kid.

I find it hard to believe about suicide if someone stole his debit card and used it over the state line.

I hate to hear about all of this. Such a senseless loss. I too hope I never come across anything like that. Somtimes stories like this make me a little nervous about riding alone.

My husband laughs at me because I have a phobia of finding a body someday. I tell him that SOMEONE has to find all these bodies! Such a sad thing for their families.

once I wanted to walk under this bridge that had a bike path going under it and it went a mall. If not you had to walk a long way to a light and since it was 115 out I decided to do the bridge.
We were doing a sculpture in this city. But I had the day off and the mall was across from our hotel.
When I walked down I ended up being escorted by police under the brigde. I couldn't see what they were doing on the one side and didn't really ask ? But the officer asked if on my way back I would take the long way.
That night on tv we found out they had found a girls body with no head.
The next year same city same situation different hotel and side of town, went a store across the street. Crime scene tape every where in parking lot. Look at car that is in the center of it all, Dead person in car. Hate that town! CREEPY

Any time I'm out walking my dog(s) in an even semi-remote area I'm afraid of this...

Yes, I always get that same unsettled feeling when in remote places on my bike, especially when I smell a dead deer or something nearby.
I had a brother who wound up being one of those unidentified bodies found in the woods by hunters after missing for two months.

It seems from what I am reading that the two bodies in this news story are not likely to have been cyclists. They were wrapped up in sheets, plastic and packing tape and dumped there by the bike path. Probably killed elsewhere and just dumped there. I'm grateful they weren't cyclists murdered for their bikes.

i found a body once. i was little and riding on the back of my b-i-l's bike, with my two sisters and brothers all riding. we were cruising along a park in chicago right along the lake and since i was just along for the ride, i was able to look all around and enjoy the scenery. i remember poking my b-i-l in the back saying ' ummmm, isn't that a body over there'? it was someone floating in the lake. i was perhaps too young to be traumatize by it, and maybe the distance between me and someone floating face down in the lake helped. now it is more an interesting story, cause not everyone can say they found a dead body. we never did find out any details. my sister remembers us walking by there later that day and her pushing us away because the police were there with a big grappling hook looking for more things in the water, i suppose. and apparently she and her husband and our brother worked themselves into a lather speculating that it was a mafia hit and that someone would come to find us. they were just joking (my sister and i were in bed, they wouldn't have scared the young'ins that way). but they said someone knocked on the door and all three of them screamed. their silly speculating apparently actually scared them all a little bit.

lisa s.h. - so sorry about your brother, that must have been just excruciatingly painful on your family.
