My first real challenge is today...

An 8 hour training on chemical dependency in a ritzy (okay ritzy for Idaho) hotel with multious yummy snacks that can clog the arteries just looking at them!

I will pack an apple and a few other things to pick on when I want the yummies.

Pass up that Halloween candy, ladies, and eat at least 5 times today. Don't forget the protein, and make veggies the #1 thing ya eat.

Let's fill up the for sale board with things that don't fit us come January!!!

PS - It isn't too late to join. No buffets. Jobob - thanks for the picture and the "want to not look like that again" statement. I have a picture of myself that I looked at about 4 years ago and said the same thing! It strangely has disappeared from the photo album!

I have been reading and re-reading the posts and checking this thread each day. However, I have been hesitant to post or sign up for this challenge. Very frustrated with my weight loss rollercoaster. Started Weight Watchers January 07 and quickly lost 10 lbs. Then the next several months I proceeded to gain and lose that same 10 lbs. I didn't take my measurements (which was a mistake since the scale wasn't changing but my body was and it showed in my clothes). I stopped WW because I felt like I wasn't really making the right food choices; I just learned how to eat the right number of points and still didn't make the best food choices for myself.

I know that WW works for many people and they are able to lose the weight and keep it off. I can't explain it too well but I decided it wasn't the best thing for me. I decided to go back to tracking my foods in my journal and trying to make better choices and to exercise consistently.

So here I am again. I am posting this time but still haven't made the decision to join the challenge

Ok, enough. The first step (again) is for me to move forward and take the step. Count me in.

Weigh-in for beginning of this week - 171. My goal is 10 lbs at a time.

    Sorry for the long post.

Hey, I did the same thing as you with WW the first time. Learn how to stay in range eating naughty foods. Knowing this though, gives me power to change my choices. I don't have to make the same mistakes twice. I am glad you decided to join us! How did you do?

There are so many of you that I want to congratulate, Veronica, Sandra, who else?? Reeses????? Now there is some awesome willpower (sheesh, I started to type wheelpower instead of willpower, time for a nap! )

I did well today. At the conference today were numerous pasteries in the morning and cookies in the afternoon. I had none! Yippee!! Best conference that I have ever been to in regards to the speaker. I learned so much about substance abuse I think it will take days to process it all.

Tomorrow is birthday celebration #1 at Olive Garden with my dad. I promise to be good.

Hey, how do you quote more than one person within a reply to a thread? I can figure out how to quote one person, but not several.

Sorry for the spastic thread drifts, it is beddie by time for me. Long day.

Hit the quotes mark instead of the word quote. It changes colour but nothing else happens. Then go to another post and do the same thing. On the last post. just hit the quote button and they should all show up. Does that make sense, I'm tired too.

I did well today. No temptations at work. The only candy left is yucky stuff I wouldn't eat anyway.

I pack both breakfast and lunch every day and keep track of the calories for those two meals on a spreadsheet I made up. When I leave for home at the end of the work day, I know how many calories are left from the 1500 the nutritionist suggested starting with. Knowing what I have to "play" with at dinner helps me gauge what and how much I eat. If I can keep from snacking while cooking, I should see some results. I'm more concerned with losing inches than pounds right now.

On the weekends I eat well but don't track what I eat. And if I know I'm going to do a longish ride, I eat more.

I've already warned the family that I'm not doing much baking this holiday season. Gingerbread cookies - that's it.

I did pretty well today. I ate mostly frozen diet food (have GOT to make stuff at home to bring to work) because I haven't had time to cook. I'm within my WW point range, at least which is good because I didn't run today. I love the days I run, gives me more points

Has anyone tried the Special K chocolate cereal? To be honest, it's pretty good. It sounds funny but it really does work if you have chocolate cravings!

We have a birthday cake sitting around that I successfully avoided or included in my calorie+workout total. Last night at about 7:00 pm, after I was all fed for the day, I just HAD to have a slice of that cake!

It wasn't a big slice, but it was bigger than the slices I had included in my calorie totals.

Luckily it only put me over the top by about 50 calories. Still, I can't have that every day. I've been trying to get the birthday boy (14) to eat huge slices of the cake, but he's resisting (he tries to eat healthy, too).

I don't eat at night. At 4:00 pm I'm hungry for dinner or will be by 5:00, so my eating pretty much stops by 6:00 depending on what I'm cooking. So for me to have that cake late is unusual.

On a positive note, we've all avoided the leftover Halloween candy since Halloween night. We usually end up throwing it away anyway--except Smarties--I love Smarties (only 25 calories per roll).

Congrats for all of those who have lost already!! That is really great and really motivates me. I want to post a loss on Monday.

I stayed at 147 which is ok. I usually put on a few extra during that wonderful time of month

I feel good, have eaten well, did body pump this morning and am headed out after work to do a quick 20 on the bike while it is still light.
I am never down. I am either up or getting up.

    Weighing in on Sundays:

This morning's weight - down .6 lbs to 170.4. I'll take it. It's important for me to track the exact weight; when I posted my original weight, I posted a rounded number (I forgot how happy a reduction of .2 or .4 could make me).

I managed to work out 1 time this week and have been trying to eat a little more even though my mouth still has some sensitive areas.

Thanks for the ideas on soup and yogurt. One day I was so frustrated and hungry, I ate vegetarian chili for breakfast and lunch It worked though. My stomach and mouth/teeth were happy.

Yesterday wasn't a good day. Not because I didn't make good food choices though. I didn't eat much food yesterday (or the last couple of days). I have had some major tooth and mouth pain and finally had a root canal on Tuesday morning. Haven't feel like eating or even excited about any food(which is scary for me).

Mouth is feeling better (at least one area) so I am off to find something for breakfast. Care to share any ideas on goods foods to eat that don't require a lot of chewing

Haven't worked out at all this week either...

Sandra I am going to try very hard today to be good! I like that rule no off the wagon two days in a row!

Five One I am a big time holiday cookie baker! But do I have the will power to bake and not eat? And my son, who will be home for the holidays from college, looks forward to my cookies, pies, and breads. And I love giving them away to neighbors and co-workers. But I also eat a lot of what I bake. Will power . . . I just need will power which I am finding I have less and less of these days.

So to bake or not to bake that is my question to myself! And I have a to die for rum cake that I serve up every Christmas Eve. When the lid is removed the aroma will knock your socks off!

Deidre . . . sorry about your mouth. Hey how about some nice homemade soup? This time of year is the perfect time for soups.

Flybye - I'm following your weigh-in schedule. I've done daily before, and weekly before...and I still need to lose, so I figure twice weekly may just be the ticket!

    Start: 159.2
    Today: 158.6
    -0.6 (I'll take it)

I haven't worked out since starting this because I have been very, very 'phlegmy' leftover from the flu. Tonight will be my first workout and I'm looking forward to it! I've also been having super cravings for veggies, so that's what I've been eating...a LOT. I'm averaging over 5 cups of veggies a day! I've had very little meat since last Saturday (which is odd for me) and I'm feeling good. Yesterday we had a group celebration lunch at PFChangs, but I really wasn't tempted by anything. I asked that we order a 'Budha's Feast' (all veggies) and I stuck to that, brown rice and two bites of grilled salmon. Everyone else gorged themselves, so I was feeling mighty self-satisfied, if I do say so myself!

Now to just get the exercise component up and running... (no pun intended!)

Thanks for posting! I haven't braved the scale again yet . . . maybe tomorrow morning. This week has just been too crazy. Anyways, your loss is encouraging me to finish the day strong
