Wow! Just wow! Good things it's not my size or I might be tempted to bid on it. But one day I may find one in my size, then what will I do? <gulp>

that is beautiful.
Darn it, I must avert my eyes. Good thing we'll be out of town for the next few weeks, I can't be expecting bikes to land on my doorstep.
I'm surprised nobody has bid on it though.
It is nice, but it is really old. I bet it is really heavy. I like the ones that are a little newer vintage.![]()

lovely bike i agree
Most ebay activity happens right near the end. Seems a bit expensive. Perhaps the non-vintage parts are also holding it back?
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

I read somewhere, maybe here that only about 1/5 of the weight of a bike is the frame. With newer lighter components it's a lighter bike. Make it a fixie or freewheel .... my ancient Motobecane Mixte Freewheel is surprisingly light.
It's not as if I'll be doing epic climbs on it anyway![]()

Oh, man. That is a gorgeous bike. It is the same make as my Puch -- Astro-Daimler sold these bikes under different names. There is one Astro-Daimler mixte out there that is the only mixte ever sold with really high-end components, I believe (it was all Campy). This is not that one, but it is a gorgeous bike.
I just asked my husband to buy it for me because I am, like, raising his child. I think he is going to tell me to jump in a lake but it is worth a try.
My husband looked at the listing and based on the decals and labeling, we think it is the same frame as my Puch. The green sticker on the fork is the same as the sticker on my frame, the one listing the type of steel. It is not an ultra-lightweight by any means, but as a point of reference, the frame is signficantly lighter than my 1980's Nishiki mixte.
This is a very nice bike. You are unlikely to find a nicer mixte. The buy it now price is pretty high, but if I did not already have a frame that is almost identical to this one (but without the fork -- I had to buy a chrome one -- and not quite as pretty), I would bid on this bike.
OK, somebody cover me, I'm going in.
Wait, what am I thinking.

Based on these mixte discussions I started looking around and I found one on Craig's list not 10 miles from here and went up and rode it the other day.

Though the ad says it's in good shape, the owner's perception of "good shape" and mine are not the same. It was a classic Raleigh mixte, but was just too small for me to ride. Plus it needs new tires, new chain, new brake cables, and the rear wheel needs trueing.
They have reduced the price to $50, but even if I did al the work, I'd still have a bike that was just too small. I had to give it a pass.
Sigh,
Martha
