had a nice little spin today. It was gorgeous after a week of rain. The
    colors are so intense!!
I was having a hard time motivating... oh, I'll do the short loop ( 3 miles)
but just kept after myself because it was a good day to be out. Talked myself past the turn off for the short loop and kept on going. What is really excellent is that there
are some new trails that eliminate the need to grind up the utility road to
make the top... sweet new trail all the way.

If you look closely in the first photo you can see a deer.

Wow! That is some sweeeeet looking single track! Here in the desert, we don't often have to deal with the rain, but we also don't get those nice green rewards. Thanks for posting the beautiful pics.

Gorgeous pixs Irulan - thanks for sharing. Now that I've caught the "bug" I was just thinking I need to go MTB'ng again this Sun and your pixs are really motivating me!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

Since SK says this is the Cascades- are you near Bend by some chance?

Eastern WA, looking along the Spokane River towards Idaho. We are actually in a drought; we've just had a lot of rain lately. It will brown up soon enough. Spring is like this around here.

Talking Devil's Gulch Memorial Day weekend

    Irulan,

Beautiful pictures . . . I wish I could take nice pics like these.

Hubby and I will be joining 8 other friends and riding in the Leavenworth area Memorial Day weekend. We'll do Devil's Gulch on Saturday and Freund Canyon on Sunday.

    Can't wait!

    Sue

Forgot to mention this . . . our son goes to EWU in Cheney. Joe and I were thinking about mountain biking over there is fall when we take him back to his dorm in September. Any suggestions for good places to ride? Thanks!

the beauty of digital is that you can just delete the crappy ones.
One hint, is that for landscapes use the 1/3-2/3 rule... One third sky, two thrids land, or vice versa

Lots of nice stuff right in town. This ride is one of the local in town loops. Nothing like devils gulch but it's plenty nice.

Irulan, thanks for the photos!!! This may sound silly, but looking at them, I could smell the mountain air!! I almost teared up, they made me pine for my mountain home, though it's still snowing/cold there in Colorado.

I lived in Bellingham/Skagit region for 5 years. Spent halves of 4 years working at Ross Lake Resort on Hwy. 20.

    Irulan,

Forgot to mention that your photos remind me of Missoula, Montana. Joe and I went to Missoula last summer to visit his family and we rode at Rattle Snake Recreation (state park) and it looks very very similar. Nice smooth winding trails and the smell of ponderosa pines ..... mmmmmm heaven. I told Joe we need to ride there again when we go home to visit his family. Just beautiful! And I will bring a camera next time.

    Fixed: Loved your "state"!

I"m working on a non-powerline version of the view pic. That is a LOT of clone stamping in photoshop.

Susan, just let me know when you're going to be around and I will either line you out or give you a tour.

Went back up there again today, solo. It's so awesome that every solo ride I've been on I've seen other solo women out, mainly hiking. Tells me I live in a good place.
