1985 Raleigh Mixte 17"

Rather minty lugged Raleigh mixte for sale. I bought this from the original owner, who said she barely rode it. Would be almost like new if my friend (who was used to her old Peugeot mixte with awful brakes!) hadn't braked suddenly and gone right over the handlebars! The bike fell over in her rocky driveway, scraping the bar endcap and putting a little tear in the foam covering of the bars. Other than that, the bike is in wonderful condition. The rear cogs and chain have a kind of "gold" color that the LBS guy said would be worn off if the bike had any real use. Still has the original gumwall tires I would have thought would be dry and not hold air, but seem just fine. The owner did tell me it had always been stored indoors. I absolutely love this bike, but the reach is too long for me.

Forgot to say this is a Raleigh Marathon and has "Sport touring geometry" described by Raleigh as follows:

"Raleigh's sport touring frames feature a wheel base and fork rake slightly longer than our racing geometry but significantly shorter than our touring geometry. This configuration produces more stable handling characteristics than found on our racing models without compromising the rider comfort and responsiveness of our top-of-the-line touring models."

The Marathon was 3rd out of 6 sport touring models offered in 1985, so just about middle of the quality lineup. It was one step above the Raleigh Record and probably cost about $300-$350 when it was new.

You say the reach is too long for you....how tall are you? Or better yet, how long is the 'virtual' top tube? (seat post to stem)
