    Meet Ginger :-)

My new - vintage - responsible buy - cruisin' around city - girlie red - bike. Just got her home and she rides smooth. I used to have a whopper of an old MTB to get around town. My road bike is Fred (CALLED Fred, not "fred") so that's why she should be Ginger, eh?

I bought it at that place the city runs where they provide jobs and training to unemployed people. They do repairs, sell one brand of new bikes and then re-vamped used bikes. The more expensive line gets a new paint job and comes from single to 7 speed.

This is just a revamped Motobecane frame, lots of new parts - cassette, rear derailleur, wheels, handlebar, saddle... but lovely old shimano shifters etc... Frame's got a few places where the paint is chipped off but hey, must be from ... the 70's?

I'm impressed that the city provides job training like that. A good deal for everyone involved.

I love red. Maybe if you get the serial number off the bottom bracket you can find out the year of the bike.

This is the type of singlespeed bikes they build. They're expensive though. Well mine wasn't "cheap" either but for all the parts it's basically a new bike.

Frame number - he wrote it on the warranty except I think on the bottom bracket it's covered up with a protective thingy. 2778691...

The shifter says shimano 600 It's a predesessor to ultegra, good components. late 70's I think.

By 80's shimano did away with that beautiful work.
