I will also be trying to defend my national title for the third year in Canada.
If any of you are coming to any of the races please come up and introduce yourself, I'm always happy to meet new people.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"
Sorry I've missed some of the new people, this darn forum updates all the new threads every time you've visited, even if you haven't read them all yet so I lost about 2 days worth of threads!![]()
To everyone that posted somewhere around the 10/11 of May, Welcome to the board, nice to meet ya and hear from everyone!!!!

CM - The world cup mtb. race is in Angel Fire on July 10. It's always fun to watch the downhill, mt. x, and dual slalom. Not sure if all those events are going to be at Angel Fire.
Real name: Carmen
Where do you live? Olathe, KS
Explanation of your handle: It’s what everyone calls me.
Explanation of your avatar: Need to find one.
Age (general or specific) 48 and never felt better.
Occupation: IT Project Manager, mother and aspiring quilt artist.
Favorite bike: Trek Pilot
What's in your stable? Trek Pilot 2.1 (Speedy) and Cannondale C500 (Pokey).
Fastest speed on a road bike? 35 MPH, going down a very steep hill during a group ride. The guy behind me said he could smell my brakes the entire time. I don’t feel comfortable going that fast.
Another picture of yourself or your ride? Don't have any yet!
What is the biggest lie you've ever told: My weight on my driver’s license – it’s what I weighed before I got pregnant with my son. The woman at DMV rolled her eyes when I told her my weight and she said “are you sure?”. I use it as a goal to strive for.
Most memorable moment on my bike: I tried out a new bike trail that I can only describe as an enchanted forest. The trees were sky high, the path was so cool because of the deep shade and it was ever so quiet. I was the only one there riding on this wonderful path. It took my breath away.
Most fun ever had on a bike? Flying down Nicollet Street on my CoasterKing bike with playing cards in my spokes.
Hi Carmen
Enjoy the board, I do
BTW, where's KS?
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
"I will try again tomorrow".
Kansas?
Oops, sorry. Gotta edit.
Kansas?, USA.![]()
I used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.
Thanks RoadRaven. I have learned so much in the short time I have been visiting this board.Originally Posted by RoadRaven

Thanks for bringing back memories for me. I spent (a very hot) 8 days in your state during my 2002 cross-country tour, and I remember the wind. I was lucky though - most days it was coming from the side (sometimes combined with a headwind), and I even had a day of tailwinds! Dumb luck, I guess.
