Trek Pilot 5.2 Delivery

I have been waiting for my Trek Pilot 5.2 WSD 54" since January. I had a big argument today with Trek, who claims that they still dont have a set delivery date. It was supposed to be in the shop today !!! famous last words ( I have been given delivery dates since january). Not sure what to do at this point. I have not even had a chance to test ride it to see if it really fits. I was given a bike in January as a birthday gift ( trek but it did not fit). I have tried many other bikes ( trek, cannondale, jamis) but they are all too long. I have long legs and a short torso. They other bikes would require a very short stem which is not recommended. Any suggestions for a different bike to test ride. I think at this point I am going to stick to mountain biking. Alot less stress involved.

I ride a 2003 Specialized Allex Comp 18 (mens) 52.cm.
I'm 5'7", with a 32" inseam. And long arms, the torso of a 4'10" woman.

Attractive, no?

Anyway, I love the bike. You could try one of the new ones... or the Roubaix.

Or if you really want a fit go custom.

Sorry to hear of your ordering troubles! I had posted a very similar problem w/my 2100WSD C model I ordered in March. My LBS ended up calling around and found one for me in Washington. I emailed Trek and basically was told sorry, you're out of luck. I have heard the Specialized Dolce Elite (I believe that is the correct name??) is a good choice. I do know how it is tho when you get your heart set on something. Good luck to you and hope something turns up soon!

I feel your pain. I did the waiting/frustration/why-can't-they-give-me-a-straight-answer thing with Santa Cruz almost two years ago. Anyway, have you looked at the Bianchi Eros Donna? I fit best on bikes with a very short reach. Got the Eros Donna a couple of months ago and love it to pieces. Give it a try if you can find one.

Best of luck to you. Sometimes things are very upsetting at the time, but in the end you find out that it was all meant for a reason. Perhaps your reason is that you have another bike somewhere with your name on it!

you've ordered the bike, paid for the bike...why oh why oh why doesn't your LBS give you a loaner bike? When I got my bike it was a long wait. It's built in Italy they weld, stop for pasta, another weld, walk in the grape fields, weld again, listen to opera in the piazza etc.

I'm kidding, am sure they work fast.

At first I trained on my old mountain bike but very soon my shop simply volunteered the loaner. I ride a 47 cm, the loaner is a 50. Chris made it fit. Heck, if I hadn't already paid for the bike I'd be tempted to buy the Della. Would your shop do that?

Tell them it's an extended test ride on your NEXT bike.

I also ride a Specialized Dolce. There are different models of them and according to my husband I am sure one of them is similar to the Trek. You would be staying with Shimano components instead of going to Campy's which I think that is what they use on Bianci. I am not too familiar with the Pilot, but if it is a road bike for comfort, than Roubaix as Spazzdog mentioned is in that catagory and also comes in different models. I did test the Allez 50 inch, I am 5'2" and although my leg stretch was fine, the reach was a bit more than I wanted. It might be worth going on the Specialized website and you can compare specs and components with what the Pilot offered you.
