Oh, forgot--teigyr, that looks like a beauty! Is the chain kinked because of guck build up, or for some other reason? What about the tyres and cables (I almost always replace cables right away, although often the tyres are all right once the tubes have been replaced)?

The chain is kinked up because links are frozen. Who knows when the last time the chain was replaced. DH will be working on it so I won't be riding it for a few weeks at least. This is a dangerous hobby Originally Posted by East Hill

Today, at Recycled Cycles, Trek420 and I saw a sweet (but slightly battered) 48cm baby-blue Nishiki mixte 12 spd for $85. www.recycledcycles.com 206-547-4491
I was ready to buy it *right that very moment* but Trek420 talked me out of it. 'cuz basically there is NOWHERE in my little 900 sq ft apartment to put another bike!
It had stem-mount friction shifters, SunTour parts mostly. New generic rims and tires.
