Silly cager, bike lanes are for bikes!

As I left my daughter's school, a minivan pulled in front of me into the bike lane to let the kid out, instead of waiting in line like everyone else. I swerved into the street to avoid her. “Hey, that’s my bike lane!” I yelled. Her window was up so I figured she didn’t hear me.

But at the stop light, she pulled up in the turn lane, rolled down her window and said “That’s a car lane! It works both ways, doesn’t it?” Then she rolled her window back up.

If the street has car lanes, what was her minivan doing in it?

Well, no, it doesn't work both ways. Bikes are allowed in the car lanes, but cars aren't allowed in the bike lanes, except to cross them.

    Faulty thinking astounds me sometimes.

ooh, people like that make me so mad. "Car lane", my a$$!

There's a spot on my commute where people park their in the bike lane while dropping their kids off at school (as in, park and walk in!) The other morning I saw a cop writing the line of them tickets. It made my day.

On a side note, I've found that when wearing my lobster gloves I can flip people that honk at me the bird while making it look like a friendly wave. It isn't hard to smile like they're your best friend when you're doing that!

Makes you want to carry around copies of your states's Bicycle Laws and Regulations

It's a good thing it was you, not me in that situation. I think I would have done something that would have um...landed me in a troublesome situation.

There's too many of these types of things for me to keep getting mad about it. I've gone through phases...at first it upset me, then it made me mad, now it makes me laugh. I quit yelling "Cager!" at them and started yelling "I love you!" at the honkers/yellers. They don't understand what I'm saying either way.

Great that you're down to one car! So are we. I only use it to take my daughter to swim practice or to her friends, or to visit family out of town. My husband uses it regularly so I leave the oil changes & maintenance up to him. But now when we say "every 3000 miles or 3 months", we know that 3 months will come first! Even 6 months will pass before we put on 3000 miles!!

I bet she's one of those who think "Share the road" means "Bikes, get out of my way."

Yea, you've got it. It's a term popular with motorcyclists. I've always really liked it.
