    Both of my sons have fixies and love them; but when we go out on a serious ride (with hills) they don't mind bikes with gears.
    That was the same reaction we as the crew kept hearing from George during Furnace Creek. It was a huge challenge for him...35,000+ feet of elevation gain and you're right, it wasn't just the climbing, it was the lack of recovery on the descents that was so hard.

    Keep us updated on that Milwaukee, Brandy. I was seriously tempted by those frames. Next time I visit my sister in Sheboygan I'd love to visit that shop!

    Thank you Christopher. I'm incredibly proud of him. I love being by his side, supporting his efforts almost as much as I like riding my own bike...and that's a whole lot.

    Edited to add...I saw that you changed your original post. I didn't take offense. He is a mad fool, and he knows it.
