    Thanks

    THanks ladies,

I need to go & see my dr anyways so hopefully he might be able to help.

In the meantime, should i go nuts & not bike for another few days? It's an open sore and would like it to heal but am dying to bike..

I've never heard of the ointments you're referring to though. Will Savlon still help??

RM-I'm waiting for an item I purchased online to arrive & can't send any boxes for anyone yet so hold off..

I've got one too -- left side, same area, right along the underwear line (it helps to wear thongs because they don't rub it). It's kinda like two saddle sores next to each other so just merged into this large purple thing. It's tender when I press on it. I did finally get some blood out the other night (sorry, TMI), but it just seems to fill back up again. I've been wearing the most amazing Sugoi RS Flex shorts lately, and those help a lot with any pain while riding, but my doctor said it was unlikely to heal on its own and that a dermatologist would probably have to excise it. She recommended I have it done during the off-season (dead of January) to allow for proper healing time out of the saddle.

    I do feel your pain!

I believe that they can heal on their own, but you have to be willing to be very patient. I had one bugger on and off almost all race season. It would go down, then get irritated again. Fortunately it was not affected at all by saddle pressure so riding was not a painful, but yeah some pairs of undies were not good... (I really like boy shorts since they don't have any elastic in the sensitive area)
Now that race season is over and I had a couple of rest weeks its finally almost gone. I just hope it stays gone.

It helps to slap a bandaid over these not just when riding (it'll either stay, or rub off right away), but over the next few days under regular clothes. They seem to need a period of peacefulness to go away.

    thanks

    Thanks

I don't think a band-aid will be very comfy where the sore is positioned I will try a bit of gauze & see if that helps.

It's summer..I want to ride my bike even more!

Perhaps this is a good way to get started on my open water swim practice..

If it's on the underwear line I'd definitely avoid underwear with that cut...or just go commando. Works like a dream with some nice baggy shorts/pants.

BTW, I keep waiting for you to change your avatar to this.
