    For you oatmeal lovers

Bubba is all smiles because we got him a spurtle yesterday at the Whole Earth Festival. You say, what is the heck is a spurtle? It is the stirrer of choice for porridge. Invented by the Scots who are apparently the inventors of the spatula also. Since oatmeal seems to be a popular breakfast for cyclists thought all you should know how to fix it properly.

He is now armed with his spurtle and his "snot-flage" rag, a kharmic tie-died bandana. He is ever the trendsetter.

Oatmeal and other hot cereals are favorites of mine - great fuel for cycling. But I have to admit that I had never heard of a spurtle before! So SadieKate, thanks for the new word and the new cooking implement!

I looked on the Golden Spurtle link that you provided and was disappointed not to see a picture of a spurtle, other than the one embedded in the logo, that is. So I went Googling... if anyone else wants to see a picture, you can see one at the Seafoam Woodturning Studio web site.

Thanks, Denise! Bubba's spurtle is made from myrtle, so he has a myrtle spurtle (there has to be a Dr. Suess rhyme in there).

only if Bubba is a turtle............
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

    Way to go, Corsair . . .

    You fired him up.

    The Myrtle Spurtle Hurdle
He carved his first spurtle from myrtle,
And a finer spurtle you'll never see.
But carving at the pace of a turtle
Means myrtle spurtles will ne'er profitable be.
