Thank you everyone. Well the poor boy stayed an extra day at the hospital. Yesterday he started to get a fever, an indication of infection. So he stayed and they gave him intravenous anti-biotics. We took an aggresive stance on the infection because we didn't want to take a chance seeing how badly his mouth was lacerated. yes they stitched him up as best they could. Yesterday, when we visited him, one side of his face was all puffed up, like a tennis ball. Anti-inflamatory, pain med, anti-biotic... poor thing was seriously medicated. Still talkative though.

We picked him up today around lunch time and he seemed to be in no worse shape. He did enamour the staff at the clinic. they thought he was cute and a handful. bit of an understatement really. When we came home he was EYEING the sewing machine. good grief.

He is going back to our regular vet on Tuesday for a follow up.

Well this boy has used up three of his young lives already. Month and half ago he was in ICU for two days with his sister Unknown viral infection and dangerously high fever. Both their bodies were iced down to cool them down to safe body temperature.

Well I won't be buying a new bike this year. That's okay. Little kitty's life is more important to us.

when I have a chance I wil post his cute picture.

Oh. both my partner and I have had tetinus shots and its still current. So thank you for the reminder.

Smilingcat - as a fur parent who has kitties that have "helped" me sew, I feel your pain. Around here we joke about making boat payments for our vets. I think I'm buying a wing in the new hospital my vet is currently building. Not too long ago some friends were over and I pointed out the armoir that wasn't in my livingroom storing the TV, satelite dish box, and various DVD's etc. They didn't get it... Vet bills took priority over furniture. The clutter will just have to do for a while longer.

Hope your silly boy gets better soon, and stays AWAY from the sewing machine!! Do you have some nice sparkly trim to chase??

Holy cow!! Poor poor kitty!!!! And still eyeing the sewing machine to boot. Kittens are fearless! And quite insane. Speedy recovery to all of you - good news on the tetanus, too. The only other thing they told me (dog bite) is to make sure you keep cleaning/disinfecting the wound. But, they've probably healed up a lot by now since this actually happened a week ago.

I'm just now seeing this because we were at the ER vet and regular vet ourselves. Our pets have had a time the last few days. I hope your cat is getting better and gives up sewing!

My neighbor was remarking tonight that the reason he is still driving a 10 year old car and a 10 year old truck is because of his former pet bills.

Thank you all, and an update.

Tommytom went for a check up on Tuesday. I spoke to the vet before the procedure in detail of what had happened, what the emergency clinic did, medication, complication... We were having this conversation in the waiting area and as soon as I said about kitty getting tangled up in the sewing machine, the whole room went quiet. Well everyone else can feel better that their babies are in lot better shape than mine. And for the most part it was...

Well after the procedure, our vet told us that Tommy has three new stiches in his mouth, but now he can eat wet food and not just the dry. He was given more pain killers, enough for 5 more days, more anti-biotics. and an instruction not to attack the sewing machine or the radio antenna.

The way he is acting, you wouldn't know anything about his trauma. Running, climbing, chasing, being chased... A cats life. He did figure out about the anti-biotic pills and he just seems to disappear... KIDS

And yes no new bike, and lots other missing things. We don't have cable nor satellite TV. NO NEW TV EITHER... The money we save goes to the vets. And yes he has a brand new building. I swear, we have been at the vet every week since May/June. maybe two weeks when we didn't go. We are on first name basis with all the vets, techs, receptionists... and animal rescue group. Tommytom and his sister Twiggy were fosters with us. But after all the delays, they are our babies now... so we are up to seven cats and two dawgs.

    Once again, a happy family.

Thanks for the update and glad Tommytom is doing better. It's amazing what we do for our critters, isn't it? I'm starting a new job today at Petco and I think what I'm most excited about is the discount I get. With 4 dogs, 4 cats, and a bird a discount at a pet supply store is a GOOD thing. LOL!

Give Tommy a scritch for me.

So glad the kitty is doing okay... Please check into pet health insurance! For about $30 per month, you can get a plan that will reimburse for a pretty large share of those emergency visits!

A couple of years ago, after a particularly bad year when all three of my dogs had major health issues--cruciate ligament surgery, two cancer surgeries, and kidney disease--I asked my vet if he was enjoying the new boat I had bought for him. He didn't think it was funny.
