What a wild and scary night for one and all at your house. First, please make sure you and your partner see a doctor for treatment of the bike wounds. If you have not boostered your tetanus you both will need to do that. Cat bites are packed with bacteria and the infection that results can be awful, best to see a doc ASAP. Don't mean to scare you but have been biten several times and it has never been "just a bite."

Now for you buddy - poor guy. His mouth is going to be very sore and he probably won't want to eat. Don't let you buddy go more than 24 hours with eating or he could develope liver problems! The vet will probably send you home with a food which can be fed via syringe if not ask about some A/D. Make sure you ask the vet for pain medication and I'm sure antibiotics will be prescribed as well.

Hang in there it will get better!

What a frightening experience!! I know how this sort of thing feels, and it's really nerve wracking! I hope you got a bit of sleep and that kitty has had her repair work done now and is recovering nicely.

Please do get antibiotics for your cat bites - even the ones that don't "look infected". It's pretty much a necessity as their teeth have a lot of bacteria on them that we just can't tolerate.

You will all get well. One day this will be a story you tell....

Like the one I tell of how my 'Cuda dog got a stick through his tongue. Injury turned out to be not as serious, but he did become a total momma's boy after the event. And I think he kind of has an elvis streak - he really wanted to keep taking pills after his pain medication was finished.

Sending lots of butterflies of healing, calm and love.

    Hugs,
    ~T~

Many healing vibes are coming your way. Poor scared kitty and poor peoples. Do take care of the bites, cat bites can be very bad if not treated. I hope your baby heals quickly.

Thank you everyone. Well the poor boy stayed an extra day at the hospital. Yesterday he started to get a fever, an indication of infection. So he stayed and they gave him intravenous anti-biotics. We took an aggresive stance on the infection because we didn't want to take a chance seeing how badly his mouth was lacerated. yes they stitched him up as best they could. Yesterday, when we visited him, one side of his face was all puffed up, like a tennis ball. Anti-inflamatory, pain med, anti-biotic... poor thing was seriously medicated. Still talkative though.

We picked him up today around lunch time and he seemed to be in no worse shape. He did enamour the staff at the clinic. they thought he was cute and a handful. bit of an understatement really. When we came home he was EYEING the sewing machine. good grief.

He is going back to our regular vet on Tuesday for a follow up.

Well this boy has used up three of his young lives already. Month and half ago he was in ICU for two days with his sister Unknown viral infection and dangerously high fever. Both their bodies were iced down to cool them down to safe body temperature.

Well I won't be buying a new bike this year. That's okay. Little kitty's life is more important to us.

when I have a chance I wil post his cute picture.

Oh. both my partner and I have had tetinus shots and its still current. So thank you for the reminder.

    Smilingcat,
