We're sorry too, KG. Next time...

    Welcome, Dex!

Bruno, should I wear my Celtics shirt or my Rangers shirt?? OK, never mind that one. (I'll just wear my Man U shirt instead)

Hmmmm, I have a Flogging Molly shirt

Wrong country though and besides, I believe they are from the US.

Flogging Molly is good trail running music. They are up there with Social Distortion as my favorite lower-key punk bands.

Dave King, the singer, is from Dublin. Originally came to the US as part of Fastway, which Wikipedia describes as "a late-80's/early 90's hard rock band." I remember Fastway having a couple of hits around 1983-ish. I still catch myself singing it from time to time.

I'm sure wearing a T-shirt from an Irish punk band won't seem too odd. Let's ponder the all the cultural cross-threading going on here. Scottish woman in Seattle, hanging out (and presumably drinking) with a bunch of Yanks. At least one yahoo of undetermined heritage running around in a kilt made in the US, either tartan or an Olive Utilikilt. Also, there will be at least one person there born in Asia (unless I end up going alone).

Oh, and the common denominator is we all ride bikes. The first bike with cranks was invented by the French.

I'm sure I'm missing something, but that's a good start.

Sounds like a party to me.

Am actually going to NY in November to see Stiff Little Fingers which, despite their ages now, is kind of Irish punk. Have many SLF shirts.

Am still thinking of what I have that is Scottish.

    Midge Ure! Got it.

Finally have sitters nailed down, so Mr. Kiltiger will definitely be accompanying me. Yea!

Anyone living in the north end interested in carpooling (big van), pm me. We do turn into pumpkins at ~10:30, so be aware that we need to leave by 10pm.

I turn into a pumpkin at 10:30 because I get up for work at 5:30. She's usually on her second decaf cappucino happily web surfing. At least, I think that's what she's doing. I'm usually asleep.

Here is my contribution to the evening.

If I post it now you will **all** have time to practice the words
to the tune of A Scottish Soldier (you can find it on the internet or YouTube)

    One...two... three...and...

There was a cyclist, a Scotttish cyclist
Who cycled far away, and rode so far away
There was none bolder, nor heart-of-gold-er
Than Bruno 28 of Falkirk town
She's seen the flowers, at sunset hours
She's seen the cows a-graze thro' Scottish haze
And now she's flying, her heart is sighing
To meet the girls of Team Estrogen

[chorus] And they're TE girls, they're the greatest girls
Not just cycling girls, they're all-rounder girls
Forever these girls will be TE girls
One for all and all for one

There were some cyclists, Seattle cyclists
Who cycled far and wide, they rode so far and wide
There were none bolder, nor heart-of-gold-er
They rode on all the routes and cycled all the tracks
They've seen the grizzly, in weather drizzly (??!!)
They've seen the ducks in lines, above the pines
And now they're eating, and no doubt drinking
And Bruno 28 is there with them

    [chorus] And they're TE girls...

Wish I was there to see if I could drink Bruno under the table.
You Americans haven't a chance! You need an ozzie or a kiwi to have a hope of out-drinking a Scot!

DH and I did re-watch Trainspotting the other night as to get the lingo down right.

    Hilarious albeit disturbing movie.
