A listing for $250+ will stick around a bit. Regular step throughs tend to stick around longer. The Motobecane that's up now for $120 will probably stay up longer. French threading seems to scare Craigslist buyers around here.
Madison Wisconsin? Are you close to Chicago? I've bid on a couple of "pick up only" mixtes there. $250???? Biking isn't as popular where I live, so I guess it's easier here. Guess there are trade-offs wherever you live. You have bikers, I have rednecks driving big trucks with shotguns.lol

Yup, Wisconsin. Chicago is a bit far for me, since I'm carless. Keep in mind that Madison is home to the state university, and Trek bicycles has their home office near here. So there is a large and very active used bike market. There's a good bike trail and lane system. There's something like 4-5 bike shops within walking distance of campus, one of which specializes in used bikes. All this adds up to used bikes costing more. I think mixtes are relatively common (ie, you'll see people using them on a near daily basis) because Madison has been bike happy for a very long time... it's not unusual to find a bike that's older than I am parked at the library.

Edit: the motobecane is still up... the seller dropped the price, which makes me nervous.
