Couple of years ago, I rode myself into an asthma attack round about mile 45.5. Two guys passing me realized that I wasn't doing too well. We saw a nice drive way and I said something like I --- stop ---- here.

And where 2 or more cyclists are gathered beside the road, interest is attracted.

1st to stop - one of the Louisiana State Trooper motorcycle cops who ride as escort, who radioed for the support ambulance.

2nd to stop - the Motorcycle club support rider radioed for SAG truck and van.

So there was me, additional cyclists, cop, club MC rider, small Ryder truck, SAG mini van all along both sides of the road, and only 1/2 mile from the lunch stop.

The paramedic told me I was done for the day, but didn't need to go to the hospital. SAG Ryder truck driver who thought I was going to die, and took my bike on Paramedic's orders, saying he'd only release it to me - which is exactly what he did despite the efforts of some of my friends to save me the trouble. My avitar photo is of me looking for the truck that day (we had 4 Ryder trucks and my bike was on ONE of them).

But I felt good enough to ride all of day two. So I wound up doing 125.5 miles of the 150 miles.

Wow! That's scary. Glad everything worked out, and that you were recovered enough to ride day 2. I don't know how you ride in the heat/humidity - I couldn't take it!
Most days in life don't stand out, But life's about those days that will...
