Our ride was hilly until we got out of city limits, then mostly flat farm land with a few rollers. Then hills returning to town. I had the advantage of drafting 5 guys who race regularly, I'm still new to the group, so they don't expect me to pull .... yet
. Besides, I'm a lot smaller than them
. I wasn't sick-feeling, just the throat thing and half lung capacity. One ibuprofen and about 500 snot rockets later, I was good to go.
Headwinds, yuck!! Not only do they make the riding more difficult, but being in the wind, totally exposed, just sucks it out of you, KWIM? Kudos to you for perservering through those conditions with no one to break the wind! I think you get double mileage for every mile against a headwind !!
