    Red Bull

I DOES give you wings I would have never tried it had I not read about it here, THANKS!! I was feeling a little tired and it really gave me a boost. I also had a powergel.

I rode for 2 1/2 hours yesterday, in a strong headwind most of the time, and after an hour I stopped and bought one, I like the flavor but decided to mix it with my water, then I stopped about half an hour later and ate some p.b. crackers and finished my 25 mile ride! my longest ride so far I was riding the parkway so it was very hilly and the head wind felt like it was stopping me in my tracks some times - no lie, I was pedaling hard but not going anywhere! It was a great ride, I can't wait to do it again.

    Thumbs up

Drank my first Red Bull yesterday, too!! Drank it before riding from the house to meet the club. From that first sip I experienced the carbonated PixieStix flavor mentioned in the other Red Bull thread. I didn't experience wings, but I do suspect that it had a lot to do with me being able to do 50 miles at an avg. of 17.3 mph, despite waking with a wicked sore throat and lungs that felt half full of fluid.

I had barely slept, due to my throat being swollen and sore all night, or at least until 3:30 AM, when it dawned on me to take some Vitamin I for the pain, inflammation and swelling. Then my son had growing pains and was crying, yet wouldn't take the Tylenol that would make the pains go away . Then my alarm went off at 6:45. And I hadn't done this distance in three weeks, and have barely been riding at all. Point being, I was not in top-notch condition for the ride. Yet I pulled it off, didn't get dropped, and maintained what for me is a pretty brisk pace!

Red Bull gets the fixedgeargirl seal of approval !!!!

Your my hero! I was glad to do 25 miles you did 50 and you were sick and tired were yours hilly? I suspect I get a great workout just doing 25 miles with 70% + being hills? and that nasty head wind.

I woke up very tired this morning so I stopped and bought a Rip It, similar to R.B. but bigger, it woke me up and gave me energy!

Our ride was hilly until we got out of city limits, then mostly flat farm land with a few rollers. Then hills returning to town. I had the advantage of drafting 5 guys who race regularly , I'm still new to the group, so they don't expect me to pull .... yet . Besides, I'm a lot smaller than them . I wasn't sick-feeling, just the throat thing and half lung capacity. One ibuprofen and about 500 snot rockets later, I was good to go.

Headwinds, yuck!! Not only do they make the riding more difficult, but being in the wind, totally exposed, just sucks it out of you, KWIM? Kudos to you for perservering through those conditions with no one to break the wind ! I think you get double mileage for every mile against a headwind !!

    Headwinds

Think of headwinds as your own personal trainer.

If you like Red Bull, try Monster. I have to mix it with water (1/3 Monster to 2/3 water) add a couple of tbs of Hydro-Fuel (Twinlab product) and you can ride in any headwind, go over any mountain...I feel a song coming on....
To train a dog, you must be more interesting than dirt.

Yucky! Yucky! Yucky! - Red Bull may give you wings but I just can't cope with the amount of caffine in it. ( I generally stick to de-caf as too much caffine makes me grumpy and bad tempered, so Red Bull would probably blow my head off!)

Don't like the taste much - a bit like medicine.

On the other hand... Vodka & Red Bull is still a v. popular drink with The Kids, ie 18-30's. I guess it keeps them going all night too and maybe the vodka helps with the Red Bull taste.

Anyone fancy a Vodka Red Bull before riding!

Try the Rip It, kinda tastes like R.B. but better. I drink diet Mt. Dew 2-3 a day so caffeine doesn't bother me I think it is the amount of B vitamins and Taurine these drinks have rather than the caff. that helps?

so if you tip over after drinking a vodka Red Bull - would that be bull-tipping??
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

Now, wait a minute- you say this Red Bull stuff has caffeine in it? What else does it have?

I'd love to try it, but caffeine and me aren't a good match. Hmmm are we doing an alternative to the bad word: steroids?

Thanks V! Am I correct in assuming that it also has caffeine?

Yes, it also has caffeine and a lot of the B vitamins.

Red Bull lists the ingredients on their website. If you click on the items in red, you can find out more about them.
