    Lance suing animal charity

    Why?
So many other groups have wristbands, I don't see how "barkstrong" or "purrstrong' could be confused with or take anything away from Lance's foundation.
According to his layers, "Such confusion, mistake and deception are likely to cause irreparable harm to LAF."

Don't think you can get away with wearing your dog's collar as a bracelet!

That reminds me I gotta send some $$$ to Yggdrasil animal rescue folks who took in Trek420's "Edgar Allan Crow". (named after my many-greats-Uncle) I ended up naming my Surly Cross Check after the Crow, with the vow that I'd send Yggdrasil some moola. And Trek is gonna design a crow head to put on the seat tube of Crow.

Wow, everything circles around, doesn't it?
(my sweetie, a crow, my great-uncle, my bike, a crow again.... oooh, cosmic)

Because if the foundation doesn't protect the trademark (which seems to be the yellow band, plus the wording, plus the font, according to the article), it will lose trademark protection, and anyone could legally sell yellow wrist bracelets with the phrase "Livestrong" without any money going to the foundation. The animal group's bands were yellow, with similar wording. It's close enough that the foundation probably wants the animal group to stop so that the collars aren't used in defense of another infringement suit where the product is even closer to the Livestrong bracelet.

The company that makes Day-Glo products goes to a lot of expense (like advertising) to remind editors and writers that Day-Glo is a trademark, it should only refer to their products, it must be capitalized, yadda, yadda, yadda. I saw them regularly in a past life as a journalist.

That's a poor headline on the article (shame on Yahoo's editors), because it's the foundation suing, not Lance personally. And the article doesn't say what (if any) attempts were made to resolve this before the lawyers were called in. That's what I want to know, more than that Tony Snow wears a Livestrong bracelet!
