It was parked in the driveway and the next thing I knew I heard a bang & crunch & she was under the tires. YIKES. I raced over and picked her up and all I could see was the chain was off. I attempted to put the chain back on with no success.
Loaded her up on the rack and raced to the LBS. At first glance, they told me they could fix her and it would cost about $20. And then I heard the words no one wants to hear. She was beyond repair, the frame was severely bent and the left pedal was bent into the frame.I've only had this bike since May and now she's down for the count -- no fixing her.
So I loaded her back up on the rack and went back into the LBS.
I couldn't be without a bike. I was thinking about getting a road bike next year and would have loved to have taken the plunge this year, but my wallet says otherwise. The guy at the LBS was very understanding and showed me quite a few alternatives. I took a Trek 7.3 FX WSD out for a test ride and decided to take the plunge with her.
I'm impressed with the gear shifting and how fast she goes. Quite a difference between the Trek 3700 and the new bike. I've ridden her every day and really love the difference. Although, I'm still sad over the Trek 3700, it was a stupid accident that should not have happened. The bright side is that no one was hurt and I have a new bike.![]()
