Red face What an Idaho Rack Looks Like

Your racks are all so very nice!

Here is what an Idaho rack looks like - practical - heavy duty - functional - and cheap!

This rack is made out of pvc pipe and we love it. It holds five bikes, but we need one that'll hold 8

Flybye, I love your rack. We live on a lake and I convinced my DH to make a rack out of pvc to hold our fishing rods. I just showed him this and he's ready to make one! (I'd love to have the measurements)

Here's the bike closet where Baby hangs out next to, umm, whatever Dh calls his bike. I think he calls him, "Bike".

    Here's Burley, our trusty tandem.

And above Burley, hangs Dh's MTB.

Kid's don't get special hanging devices. Of course, what kid wants to mess around with taking a bike on and off a hanging device? Especially one that weighs a lot more than ours!

And thus ends our aresenal of cycling devices.

I'm trying to find out how to get a couple of those parking-meter-turned-bike-rack critters put in the old parking meter sockets in front of our clinic. Right now patients are bringing bikes in and parking them in our staff lunchroom or locking them to the stair railing (eek!)

Gotta be diplomatic and approach the owner of the building space we rent in a nice way, and make it sound like it *must* be his idea to put the racks in, really... cuz the city of Seattle won't put them in unless the building owner fronting the city sidewalk ok's the deal.

I think they are awesome lock-ups, and even when bikes aren't locked to them they increase bike conciousness in the general public.

That's awesome. I want one. And I'm sure my mum wants my roadie out of the hallway. (Actually, she's been banished to the garage for tonight because I got two flats on my ride today and I haven't forgiven her yet. ) Hmm. I feel a little project coming on...

I knew someone would pick that up, but I couldn't be bothered fixing it to be more specific. If I tried to make my mum sleep in the garage I'd end up sleeping in the gutter.

I didn't make it - wish that I could say I did, but I found it at a yard sale for $20 which is about the price that the guy who made it said that the materials cost him.
I will send measurements to anyone who is interested. Just pm me.

Sandra - can I see a picture of your rack ? That is, the rack that you hold your fishing rods on? We have a cabin and also a gazillion rods at home.
