But seriously, once you've done a little bit of research, you really need to just go to the LBS and start test-riding until you find the one that's right for you. It's smart to arm yourself with a some info up front, so you can shop more wisely, but as Knot said, you never know--you may come face-to-face with a shiny, perfectly-fitted bike that bears no relation to what you thought you wanted.
