Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, I went to look at the bike and now know why is was so reasonable. It was in pretty poor shape. Guess I will keep looking.

There are a lot of people on here that love the 1000 WSD. You should check into one of those. It's "model change" time so maybe you can get a good deal on one at your lbs. If not, try craigslist or ebay.

They stopped making the Trek 1000 for 2008. But there are still some 07s around, I'm sure.

I am really impressed with my Trek 1000. I've ridden almost 1,900 miles so far and I'm not disappointed in its performance. I know at some point I'll want to upgrade, but for a starter bike, I don't think you can go wrong with the 1000. I know my LBS still has 2007's available...I bet you could find one on sale within the next couple of months as the 2008's start showing up in the shops.

I have a Trek 1000 also with a BROOKS seat! Love my bike.
