I am in the market for a pair of triathlon shorts. I am doing a duathlon in 3 weeks and have been having problems with chafing on my PI ultrasensors (which is really more of a saddle tipping issue) but I would prefer something less bulky for the running part.
I would like the shorts to be at or slight lower than my belly button in the front, but not low rise shorts. I would also like the length to be at least 6 inches on the leg and would like to hear what you guys think of the waist bands that are flat with out a drawstring.
Is this possible all in one pair of shorts or am I dreaming?TIA
Dar

I have a pair of Shebeest that I really like.
I love these: http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=26982
They have a 6 inch inseam so they aren't too long. They have a draw string on them, but once I tie it I don't think about it again. I have used these for up to 12 miles of running and 25 miles of biking with no chafing issues.
OH yea, and they aren't high waisted. They sit right on the waist or slightly below.

Is there somewhere local where you can try on shorts?
Fit is so specific to each body. I have lots of pairs of tri shorts. I love the ones made by Sugoi, Oomph, and the Desoto men's/unisex ones. I have one by Shebeest that is fine, too. I hate the Desoto women's tri shorts (go figure!), the Zoot tri shorts, and Tyr is the worst.
Most brands offer more than one configuration - Desoto for instance seems to have higher waisted and lower waisted, long inseam or short inseam, etc. So you might pick a brand you like (where the fit/chamois feels great) and then pick the version that has the correct waist/inseam for you. That might require ordering online! trisports.com has a lot of cheap closeouts from prior years, and their shipping is fast and reliable.
I can second this recommendation. I have worn mine under my wetsuit, in swimming without a wetsuit, and in running. The legs aren't so tight as to give me "sausage leg" but they don't ride up either. The drawstring is inobtrusive and honestly, they are my very favorite shorts. So much so, I ordered another pair![]()
1+ on the Zoots. I've found them to be very comfortable for bike and run (and swim, too). You really do have to try them on. All of the different brands fit completely differently.
I also second using Trisports. I've had only good experiences with them.
