Congratulations Dr. Badger!! And yes it is unfortunate but one must become an adult at some time. But as pointed out, a real paying job means that soon you can afford new TOYS!
And your dissertation sounds real interesting, especially since I work on coastal restoration projects in south Louisiana. PM me please when you can, I have questions... Man I wish you were going to work for Shell here in the Big Easy instead for BP over in Houston.Beth

Congratulations!!!!
Speaking from experience, I know what a relief it is to turn in that PhD dissertation and be DONE with it!
(I'll also add that the title of this thread had me all a-flustered for a moment. My best friend's nick name is Badger, and she just graduated from medical school, so she's also Dr. Badger. Her housemates actually call her that.)
Congrats too on getting a job. It is very nice not living in grad student poverty anymore, especially with an expensive hobby like cycling.
The best part about going up hills is riding back down!
