In NZ we call'em hot flushes...

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".

DHH - I think they're considered pre-menopausal when you get hot flashes and still have your period. I still have mine, and have had hot flashes of and on for years. I had them seriously, then lost 20 pounds (yay cycling!) then I'm getting them again. And I've always had a regular period, haven't missed one yet.

I'm going to try the Black Cohash though. Thanks for this thread!

Thank you for this thread. I am 41 and have always had regular periods...still do. But, I could swear I have hot flashes occasionally. Every now and again I wake up...almost always between 3-5am, just DRENCHED in sweat. And then, every so often, during the day, I will have maybe just 60 seconds or so of extreme heat, with emabarrassing sweating. Then it goes away.

This has been going on just every so often for the last 2-3 years... since about age 38!! But, just every once in awhile. I seem to be totally healthy (including physicals, etc). So, I am just sort of waiting to see what happens next.

It does seem a little young for this...and no period changes at all. My mom used to complain about hot flashes...but not until her early 50s.

Well, I they feel like hot flashes to me, so I am going to agree with you all and just say they are.
Then I am going to kick my DH out in the summer heat next time he tells me it's not that hot in here and tell him to deal with it, it's not that hot out there either. LOL

I was already flashin' in my mid-30's. I learned to eat yams and soy products to help with the hot flashes. The one thing that has helped is the estrogen patch.
