Whether you should have a 50 or a 52 depends on what bike you're looking at, since different bikes have different geometries.

Can they order both so you can try both? It seems a bit unreasonable to make you order one size, sight unseen. I think it's pretty hard to look at a set of abstract numbers on a geometry chart and know which size is going to feel better, unless you've been riding for a very long time.
