Jeez, haven't you already been robbed twice? I'd think about getting a dog, too--something with a big, ugly-sounding bark.

We use to have a Rott. She was the best dog! She got along great with our two cats. But in June '03 we lost one cat and then in Oct. '03 Greta, our dog, also died. Our one remaining cat is 18 and deaf, but still going strong. Bringing a dog into her life at this point would be cruel we think.

I actually don't feel violated this time, just POed. They realized they were on camera before they got very far.

The trouble is our house. We only have one neighboring house. We're the last one on the street with a hill across from us and another behind us. We have lots of privacy. And our house is actually one of the more modest ones in the neighborhood. It's still a really nice neighborhood. It's not the people who live here. It's creeps coming from other parts of town or out of town.

    V & T I am so sorry.

Dogs are great, my 4 legged security system has actually protected me a time or few. I keep telling her "Mom's a black belt, just relax and be a pet" but dogs are so protective and loyal.

Maybe not an adult dog but if you adopted a puppy...the puppy may just grow up thinking the cat is the alpha. Some adult dogs like cats, my lab/pitt/something mutt likes cats she considers "hers". Recently a kitten stayed here briefly and she just gently licked the kitten.

Now if I could only get her to be that good with other dogs.

But a dog is a huge job, it's not like you can just dump extra kibble in the bowl and take off for a double. Well, you know that 'cause of your former fur-kid.

I'd be able to do longer rides if I was not a "single parent of a dog". Yeah right, that's all that holds me back I'm sure you could get a reliable dog sitter for when you're off on a double.

    That does suck.

Maybe it wouldn't be cruel to your cat to add a dog to the household now. She's familiar with dogs and not afraid of them, and although she wouldn't be thrilled, as long as you gave her lots of attention she'd probably be OK. And it really could just be a dog in the yard which keeps these idiots from trying to victimize you.

I feel like she'd be defenseless against a dog since she wouldn't hear it. I'd want to keep them separated.

I think I'm going to work on teaching her to purr ferociously. That should scare them off.

Wow! Again! You did say "ATTEMPT"...which is good.

I know how violated this makes a person feel

Glad you have video...and most important...I'm glad you didn't come home 5 minutes earlier!
