question about scandium bikes

I'm shopping and comparing different bike frames and I'm curious as to how scandium rides. Is it smooth like steel and titanium? Or does it provide a ride similar to aluminum? Is it twitchy, or more forgiving? Does it flex similar to aluminum or is it inflexible like carbon fiber?

For those of you who do have a scandium bike, like the Terry Isis, what do you like or dislike about the feel of scandium? Would you get another bike in that frame or would you consider a different material?

Sacandium IS aluminum, albeit a high quality aluminum at that. How it rides also depends on what else the frame is made of. Alumininum is light and stiff, which is good and bad. Stiff is good for power transfer, but can be harsh, which is why I believe in the case of the scandium Isis, they added carbon seat stays and fork. I have never ridden such a bike, but now these aluminum/carbon hybrid bikes such as the cannondale six 13 are very popular in the pro peleton, since they can have better power transfer than pure aluminum, but also more comfort.

My main bike is scandium (Eddy Merckx Team SC). I love it. I have carbon bars, fork and seat post, but everything else is scandium (no carbon seat stays). I've done eight or nine double centuries on it, a 600k, 400k, etc. It's no more "harsh" a ride than my old bike, a titanium frame Colnago. I'm a fairly big power rider, so the stiffness that it has feels right to me.

Sarah, how come you went from Titanium to Scandium??? ( a colnago yet?)

The scandium bike is actually a lot lighter and stiffer than the titanium. I use the Colnago as my brevet and rain bike (it's outfitted with a Schmidt hub and E6s). They're both great bikes (both anniversary presents. I don't have a lot of jewelery. )

I am, as SK describes, a Euro-bike **** (she uses a more derogatory word). DH and I both like the geometry (straight top tube) of the classic European race frames. My bike is about 4 years old now, the Colnago is 6 - 7.

It certainly wasn't a downgrade!

I won't be getting a new road bike for quite some time, but I probably would go back to ti just because of the durability factor, given my clumsiness and our wet weather.

I don't have much jewelry either; or a new car, or a nice house... I have a great bike. It's all about priorities. Glad to know you didn't get rid of the Colnago.

Oooohhh I love Lynskey bikes. I wish I could win lotto before I go home so I could take one of these back with me.
