Wish I could join you. I just committed to ride with Mike, and I need to keep it short anyway.

Have fun! You're riding the "good" side of Hamilton, right?

    Err, I estimated wrong

It's actually about 86 miles, with around 7600 ft of climbing, from Sunol to the top of Mt. Hamilton & back.

But turning around at Grant Ranch (about 1/3 of the way up the mountain) would make it about 66 miles & 4600 ft of climbing.

    define "good"

We're heading up the San Jose side, not the Livermore side.

Right. That's the good side. Higher proportion of single-digit gradient than the "bad" side, at least the last 5 miles of the bad side.

    Have fun!!

Underestimating mileage. What a total sandbagger you've become!!!

Unfortunately I'm not quite ready for such a jaunt- but it sounds pretty nice.

I am fortunate to be amongst the crowd that goes across the new bridge that morning. (Not on a bike, however!)

Lee plans to do a shorter ride, probably up Calaveras and back, if anyone would like to join him.
