Today: a goal and a record

Yipppeeeee! I finally made it to the end (or the start) of my bike path! That's the goal - overcoming my fear of being further away from home all alone with my bike, in unfamiliar territory. And the record is that my ride to do this was 16.3 miles, beating my past distance record of 15 miles, which I had only done 3 times before! And I swear - when I was done I felt like I maybe could have gone even a little further! I don't know how often I will be able to do this, but since I've done it once......who knows!
Oh, and yup - I think my butt hurts a bit.....oh well, could be worse!

Yay!!! You go girl! Doesn't it feel great to be out there pedaling free, with a bit of wind blowing through the helmet vents? I bet next weekend you go exploring for bike routes (to the bike trail, to the park, a route with a café stop for lunch). Have fun out there!
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.

That's great! Setting goals and accomplishing them is so gratifying.
You've inspired me to set a goal, too.

    Well done, GingerGin
Goals are goals and you have made and met yours... fear can cage us, and you refuse to be caged
Do you take a cell phone with you? I find that really helps alleviate my fears.

There is something I say to my students when they struggle or are going through a rough patch and i think it fits here for you too...

    Kia kaha, kia manawanuui

Roughly translated it means, Be strong, believe in yourself

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".
