I'm really enjoying mapmyride.com better than routeslip. Haven't tried Bikely. Mapmyride has a calorie calculator, too.

It seems to be working now. But I would print out and go to another site because it's true. It's mostly abandoned.

Okay, I am BEYOND frustrated now!!! First, I wasted about 2 hours mapping my route on routeslip. Although I mapped the entire route, it only saved about 1/2 of it. GRRRRR . . . And, now I can't even access it to edit or anything.

So, then on this thread's recommendation, I tried "mapmyride." Even WORSE!!! First of all, it took me 4+ hours to “map my ride.” This program is beyond slow!!! Then, when I went to check the elevation (which, I thought would be similar to routeslip’s “climbing” totals) it showed something like 100 feet. Give me a break! The route had more like 5,000 feet (and, no, I’m not exaggerating). I don’t even know if I want to try bikely at this point. Can anyone tell me whether it is worth it? Will it give me climbing totals? Can I map a 40-mile route in less than 2 hours? Help! Anyone! Thanks.

    I feel your frustration!

I was devoted to RouteSlip until it was basically abandoned by its developer. I tried MapMyRide but didn't like the interface and the elevation/climbing totals didn't jive with anything else. So, I've pretty much accepted Bikely into my life.

I can probably map a 40 mile route in about 30 minutes. Your mileage may vary.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

I use map my ride basically because i can create garmin courses with it. i can look up elevation data there. for example, i made one for a ride yesterday, imported it into garmin training center, realized that one hill would be over 20% and I decided to do the loop in reverse instead. a bit of a pain sometimes for elevation data but i don't find it to be too slow usually.

Thanks for the kind responses. I apologize for my rant. Not tonight, but I may give bikely a go one of these days . . .

Some puters just don't like those sites. I generally can't use any of them on my laptop. Don't know why.....
