    Confession

I've been holding this in. Explanation first. I work a 9 to 5 job. So cycling is limited to early a.m. or weekends. In the a.m. it is only for a short time cuz I have a child to take to school.

Anyway, last week, my daughter had to be at school early, so I got to work early, finished most of my 'stuff'. I left around 9:00 a.m., went home, changed and went riding for 2.5 hours. It felt great! The weather was around 75 degrees and sunny, clear. No traffic cuz everyone was a school/work. Got home, showered, went back to work. Was in a great mood all day! No one could figure out why.

Ok, confession over. I'm busy this week so will to do this again try again next week. This is a big deal to me, cuz I never get to ride very much during the week.

Lucky you!.....I've started riding for my "lunch" hour and know what you mean about feeling great the rest of the day! Endorphins junkies maybe! thanks for sharing with us!...and here's hoping you can "sneak off" again!!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

If you're privileged enough to be able to stretch a leg every day (and I am very privileged in that respect because DH takes my daughter to school for me and I commute to work every day) do you notice a worsening of your mood on the days you might miss riding? I sure do! I take one day a week as a 'rest day' from cycling and I feel rotten that evening - like I've been living a debauched life of drink or something. It's not just mental, it's physical yuckiness!! I guess I really am hooked on the endorphins!

Wow, sounds like that really would have been a great ride!! On the days that I ride to school I'm always dying to finish my work so I can get out of that windowless lab and ride home. It's only a 2 mile ride, but on the way home its downhill the whole way!! Nothing like 2 miles at 35mph to make you feel better after a rough day

Isn't it wonderful? I live in the DC area, so during "off work" hours, my favorite bike paths are usually busy, especially in mild/nice weather (middle aged or 20-something male speedsters going way too fast, roller bladers, kids who can't control their bikes, "weaving" inexperienced cyclists, walkers/joggers who insist on going two or three abreast, people w/baby carriages--the extra wide models are the worst). It can be nerve wracking. Consequently, I love opportunities to ride when the 'obstacles or 'terrorizers' are either at work/school or still sleeping. Sometimes, I'll take a day off in the middle of the week just to enjoy a ride in solitude. Those are the best This is one of the reason that I don't mind riding in the winter--it keeps the fair-weather people inside and I get the trails pretty much to myself.

Good for you ACG! I think you should make this a regular habit, I bet your productivity is so much better since you are in such a good mood.

A message to all companies, please let your workers go for a bike ride during the workday, it will help you make more money!

Let's see if they listen, until then, hope you get a chance to do it again next week!

Oh wouldn't this be wonderful!! They'd save half their health care costs, I bet! (Well, except for those of us who keep falling over in their clipless pedals )

    Lunch hour exercise

I would LOVE to have a couple hours in the middle of the day to go for a nice ride. Across the road from my work is a nice bike/rollerblade trail along the river here.

I most times sit at my desk all day with nothing to do, wishing I could get out of here and go for a ride. LOL Especially now that I have the "biking bug" Just started riding this spring.

Some days I can organise that my partner meets me at work middayish and we can head off for an hour ride together and then I go back to work and he heads off to finish the rest of his training ride.
    Thats pretty cool

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".
