First long ride on Nahanni, as I have chosen to call my new bike. Since she is 100% designed and built in Canada, I chose a Canadian First Nation (aboriginal) name. "Nahanni" means 'spirit' in the language of the Dene people of Canada's north. It is also a woman's name in several First Nations' languages. I think it's a pretty name.
And does Nahanni ever have spirit. Did a 65km ride with my friend Tony out the Saanich Penninsula, and Nahanni performed wonderfully. Then Tony's bum knee gave out in Sidney (pic below), and he and his bike had to catch the bus back to Victoria. I got back to Victoria ahead of him, so I did an extra 10km or so along the waterfront. I just didn't want the ride to end, the bike was sooo comfortable. Pleasant weather, light winds, and apart from Tony's knee, it was a great ride.
