There's lots of early music folks living at Green College right now, are you going to be one of them?

Hi, everyone!
I'm about to go to Vancouver for the first time to participate in a workshop on early music. I'll be pretty busy during the week, but have a few weekend days to sight see and experience the city/beach/everything.
If you live there or have been there, could you tell me your favorite places? What are the things that I should absolutely not miss while I'm there? Any hints or tips to getting around the city? I'm staying on UBC's campus for close proximity to the music building.
I'm very excited to go since I've never visited that part of North America and it looks soooooo beautiful.
Thanks for your help!!

Well that's pretty cool, as I live at Green College, and work accross the street from Vanier Place (in Ponderosa Annex H building, right at the corner of University Blvd and Lower Mall).
Send me a PM with your arrival details, I'll meet up with you and we can chat! It will be easier for me than writing! You don't seem like you're bringing your bike, but if you've got one free morning or afternoon (or if getting up early doesn't ruin your voice!) I can probably find one for you and take you for a ride.
Cheers!
My own favorite places are both around English Bay--there's a great blue heron rookery in Stanley Park right at the ranger station parking lot, AND right around the corner is a WONDERFUL Malaysian restaurant called The Banana Leaf--I think it's on Denman? Vancouver is a great city.
