I have taken a few road trips to Charleston with my hybrid, and it is such a beautiful city to see on 2 wheels! The historic district is really beautiful. To see a bit more of the area, or if you like the beach I suggest heading over the Cooper River Bridge (nice pedestrian/bike path so you don’t have to ride with the cars) into Mt Pleasant. There is a road called Coleman that keeps you off of route 17 and you should be able to find it connects pretty easily with the bridge path. That road takes you past some great restaurants too.

Further up the road there should be a sign for Sullivan’s Island, there will be a smaller bridge that takes you over to the island. Stay on that road, and at the end you will come to a few bars/restaurants/ice cream shops. I highly recommend a stop at Poe’s Tavern for a burger. If you make a left onto the main drag on Sullivan’s Island it will take you along the shore and over another small bridge to the Isle of Palms where there is another great restaurant. I can’t think of the name of it, but its just over the bridge on the left side of the road.

I did this ride a few times, and it usually took me about 4-5 hours, but I stopped constantly to take pictures, or sit on the beach, or have some ice cream. I hope you have a great trip!
