I know how rare an event that is. AintDoody came to Seattle, and despite my VERY BEST efforts, I never found her.
How fun it is to meet someone from afar who shares your interests!

Last Friday, Aint Doody from eastern Oregon and Bad JuJu from the Florida panhandle, met for the first time and did our first annual (we hope!) ride together. Aint Doody, it seems, grew up near the Gulf Coast and still returns most years for summer vacation at a beach near Bad JuJu's home. This year, we were only able to do a short ride--about 18 miles--but we kept up the chatter the whole time, and planned to do it again next summer.
I forgot my camera, but through the magic of Photoshop, here we are together at the beach.![]()

I'm glad everyone's enjoying the magic beach photo!
Hey IFJane, yes! I'm about a 45-minute drive from Destin. Definitely let's try to hook up when you're here. I've got some travels planned in October, but I'll be home most of the month, and my classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the fall, so midweek rides are possible, as well as weekends.

Juju - I won't have my bike but I'll be there for a few days - flying into Pensacola 10/11 and back home 10/14. Hopefully we can at least meet for a few minutes. I'll let you know more when I have firmed-up my plans!

The ride with Bad JuJu was so fun. We really did talk non-stop! And IFJane, by all means try to ride with Judy. She's a great lady. We were both kicking ourselves for forgetting cameras, but I think she did great with her photoshop skills. I can't wait to do it again. The Rails-to-Trail was perfect for us. We could really visit without having to watch for traffic!
I rode 200 miles total while I was in the FL panhandle--wow, my bicycle picked up lots of sand. I had a big scrubbing when I got back to Eastern OR.
And TSPoet and I are going to meet on the Washington Bike Ride that starts Sat. And I think Mimi & I will finally get together next year at Bike Expo. I love my TE friends!!!!

I love meeting up with other TE gals. I'm happy to call many of them good friends. Who'da thunk technology would bring us so many wonderful people!!
How much fun!! I would love to meet any TE-ers! Of course I would proudly serve as an Austin area tour guide.![]()
I am breezing through Florida in November, but sadly wil not be able to ride. We are going to Disneyworld with my parents.

Hilarious picture!
Awwww MAN! We just spent 3 days in Sandestin and rode. Wish I'd known you were there. We rode the bike path off of 30A to Seaside and further out (creepy little beach town- IMO). It rained all 3 days we were there tho, Sunshine State my foot!We rode in the rain anyway, and had fun.
If we go again- I'm looking you up!!!

Hey, Tri Girl, we drove over to Seaside and rode that bike path last summer. We had a fun day, but 30A isn't what it used to be, now that there are so many beach houses obstructing the view of the gulf. And all this happened in not much more than a decade--yikes!
Definitely look me up if you're back in the area!

Is that the ride that starts in Mead? Right in my home town? Most likely about a mile from my house? To bad I'm in Seattle this weekend.I do want to hear about the ride. I'm thinking about doing it next year.
And I'm going to try to come to the bike expo too. bikerHen
It's taken me a long time to get back to TE after being in FL for 10 days with family where Bad Juju and I got to ride together & then the WA Bike Ride where I met TSPoet. I had a week in between the 2 that nearly killed me. I've been home a week. The WA Bike Ride was fantastic. Torka even got a cute, new haircut courtesy of one of the cyclists on the ride. (You'll have to clue them all in, TSP!) And yes, Bikerhen, it started in Mead. We spent the night at Mt. Spokane HS and headed out the next day (Sun) to Newport (I think.) Then we rode to Box Canyon Dam for the next night. 2 nights in Colville at their wonderful city park--had a rest day. And the last night in a town called Springdale. Beautiful scenery everywhere--hardly any cell service the whole trip--that's a good thing. Waterfalls to see, grottos, lakes, rivers, bear cubs (well, I heard of one), eagles. Just lovely. There was a cyclist there from Paris, France--Bernard--a delightful man. People from all over. The ride is limited to 250. It is so well planned and supported. The food is terrific. Hmmmmm--maybe I'd better hush. I want to be sure that I can get in the ride next year. Uhhhh--the food is bad, the scenery is non-existant, the people are mean.............
