Great name, Joyrider! Maybe Seabiscuit and Flicka can gallop together one day!

    Help me out....

Hey everyone, not sure if you remember me. I stopped posting a bit ago, well because I stopped riding for the winter I know I know, total slacker! I live in Chicago, so I hope I have somewhat of an excuse.

    Great pics!

I just got a 2005 Lemond Zurich. It's soooooooo pretty. Took it for its virgin ride today, and wow what a great bike. I'm trying to figure out a name for it. It's a great medium blue steel/carbon combo.

    Any suggestions?

I did not buy the red and black GF Tassahara as I had planned. I decided I like the Marlin just as well, for less money and a cooler paint job. Now I have a BRIGHT green MTN bike with no name yet.......

Nuthatch - totally great weather. I ditched work to go for a ride I live in DuPage Co. too. I went out past Elgin today to ride the farm roads. So nice. I'm doing 2 rides this weekend. I can handle the 70's

I think I'm leaning toward a male name. Though after reading the "eating" post with all the cookie references, maybe Cookie Monster is in order.

    Cute avatar, Beta!

My ride partner and I are starting to train for the MS 150 in June - we're going to try to get at least 40 miles in today. She's new to riding clipless, new to riding her road bike and very skittish about being on actual highways, so we've compromised with the paved path up at Busse Woods. I hope we don't mow down too many pedestrians! I'm trying to work her up to actually riding on the road...

The photo looks great, Spazz! It WAS cold that morning! <--blue in the face smiley!

Since I named the new bike (Flicka) so soon after bringing her home, my Cannondale has become verrry jealous, since after all, it occupied that "only child" spot for 17 years without a real name assigned to it.

So to appease the lovely, devoted piece of machinery, I'm going to finally name it. Has to be a horse name ('cause I'm a lover of all things equine), and has to be a name of a WHITE horse, since the bike is white. So, there's Napolean (The Black Stallion's sidekick), Silver (The Lone Ranger), Merrylegs (from Black Beauty - that was the little pony),.......and I'm stumped for other ideas for white horsie names. I KNOW there are others....anything - famous, fictional, noteworthy, historical, etc. etc....all you fellow horsie fans and admirers, pleeze help me get my Cannondale out of the nameless blues....

    Lightbulb

For a steed so faithful and so majestic as your Cannondale, I'd skip the "naming after" to avoid giving her "performance anxiety". Instead I'd name her for a fine breed of famous whites.

Name her Lipizzaner... you can use "Zany" as an affectionate call name.

Look what a fine namesake she has:

Or: if you're a LOTR fan - the stallion ridden by Arwen in the chase scene with the Black Riders is named Blanco.

Sidenote: the female stunt rider that did that ride fell in love with Blanco. When the studios were done filming and put the main horses up for sale she couldn't afford the asking price of Blanco plus one of the studio bigwigs wanted him. So Viggo Mortenson (aka Aragorn) outbid the bigwig, bought Blanco and Gave him to her. When she tells the story on the behind-the-scenes DVDs she cries (and so does Kathie aka CorsairMac!)
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

    maybe I have

I've been thinking about this a lot...and I think I've come up with the theme to name my bikes.

You see, me and my DH each have 3 bikes each that we ride...and that made me think of a certain blended family from television land....

so I'm thinking that my Santa Cruz, the bike that gets the best of everything must be Marcia. And my Torrent, the bike that gets Marcia's hand-me downs must be Jan. And my Giant road bike, the one with curls, must be Cindy. hahahahaha

we haven't quite figured out how DH's bikes can be Greg, Peter and Bobby (are those the right names), but we'll figure it out! Oh, and, hey, what was the house-keeper's name? that's what we'll have to call the purple cruiser!! heehee

what do you think? silly enough for a spaz like me?

    namaste,
    ~T~
