July 21 Rides

DH and I did the N2 ride - with a side trip to the LBS to schmooze and to check on progress on my Seven afterwards.
Was a beautiful day here in Maryland, too. Sunny, mild, gorgeous.
45 miles at a bit over 17 mph.
Unfortunately, it's my last ride for a week, as I'll be in Oregon next week for work.

I did the 45 (which clocked in just over 48) and DH did the 60 (which was actually 66 and change). Beautiful NC day - it was almost chilly in the AM - of course, it didn't stay that way. I was the last rider off the 45 mile route- stopped by the ride of the road to rest and make sure I knew where I was going, when one of the volunteers pulled up. With water (yes, I restocked at all rest stops and had 2 bottles, but it was HOT)!! He waited for me in a couple of places to make sure I would be OK. Folks on the last leg were awesome! There were people sitting in their yards cheering! Many thumbs up from riders leaving. Lots of cheering when I arrived at the finish! Drivers were generally very courteous - overall, a great ride!

Some sunburn (I missed a few spots when putting it on ), and tired legs, but a fun ride! Also broke in a new Brooks today - the regular B17 seems to be doing the trick!

Ha! We did the 48-mile Mercer Island loop (north end of Lake Washington), which has several notable hills. Not bad for a couple of people whose lives haven't permitted much riding in the last few months. Now we know we can do Tour De Peaks metric route next weekend! http://www.tourdepeaks.com/ Crazy weather day here--grey, breezy, not cold, not warm...good riding weather for us.

DH and I had a great 32-mile ride today. Amazingly, we enjoyed low humidity and highs only in the upper 70s since a cold front came through yesterday that made it absolutely spectacular for riding! We did all our errands, riding to the post office, farmer's market, a local organic farm for some additional produce, and even to Wal-Mart for ibuprofen! It was quite an adventure, and I was feeling strong and great today. I did well on hills after last weekend's much hillier ride in Ohio. Our average speed was only 13.2, but that's about the best we ever do on "utility" rides on our Bike Fridays because of the traffic in places, riding in parking lots, and our gravel road plus a long unpaved road to the farm we went to. And coming back we were loaded down lots of veggies on board and going into a headwind!

P.S. CA - I thought that event sounded fun, but we just can't seem to get going that early to make it to an out of town ride in time. We didn't even leave the house 'til 9:30 this morning! Congrats on your mileage! Today's 32 was our longest all year.

Weather was very cool today in Texas, I still can't believe I started a ride at 3:00 in July! It really wasn't a great ride for me, I felt very sore and was a bit cranky from my allergy medicine keeping me up last night. I guess you have those days though. This ride is rolling hills but usually doesn't leave me sore, that is not the case tonight.

i did 131, Was doing a brevet and realized that I would be getting back after dark and I didn't have headlights. although it looks like I could have done it. more to come

We did 20 miles, we were afraid we'd be caught in the rain, so we stayed close to home. somehow we also managed to get 1700 feet of climbing in there too. (did I say we lived on a hill?)

1700?!! and to think I was whining when I did 2200' in 44 miles.

DH did his first 50 miles today I had to work so I am living life vicariously.
