July 20th rides

Only got in 20 miles with all my errand running.
My camera broke, so I went to local Wal-mart and bought a new one(only $60):

I hosted a 35 mile ride for the club today in my wonderful community. As is typical for my rides only a few people vetured out to the country - too bad for those who stayed home missed a great ride. The weather was nearly perfect. We departed at 9:30 a.m.. The skies were blue, blue and more blue. The winds were a bit brisk but nothing we could not handle. The humid was very low, the sun was shining and the temps were in the low 70's (almost unheard of here in Kentucky in July). The group decided they did not want to push the pace so we traveled at a very leisurely pace - no big hurry to get back to our cars. We encountered very few cars but did pass a few big tractors heading the opposite direction. We were treated to a flock of buzzards circling in a lazy fashion above us, a beautiful red tail hawk zooming over a pasture and lots of song birds singing wonderful melodies to us as we cruised along enjoying each other's company. It was by all standards a great day to be on a bike.

Ahhh yes ... Victoria Parkway ... ... one of my most favorite streets in Rancho Cucamonga. Lucky for me I live right around the corner from it and drive on it a whole lot. I also cruise down it on my bike quite frequently as it's on one of my usual routes.

We did 40 miles on the tandem today. Up to Lytle Creek with our tandem friends. 3196 feet of elevation. It's the first time we ever beat our friends! Never did Lytle Creek with them before though. We have determined that they are definitely sprinters. They do flats very well and sprint up short hills very well, but anything that keeps going up and up and up ... they have a tougher time with. Fortunate for me, Dh is King of the Mountain ... endurance rides uphill. I'm really not quite sure what I am yet since I'm still figuring out my strengths. I "like" to sprint, but it still takes a lot out of me when I do it as I'm still developing those muscles and the cardio to do it. Time will tell what my true strengths actually are. However, I'm THRILLED with how well we did Lytle Creek today. We only did it one other time on the tandem and I'd say it was pretty horrific for me. Today ... not nearly so horrific. Yay!!!

got 30 miles in. My ankle is killing me, thought it wouldn't hurt on the bike but it did! should of turned around at mile .00001 but i was set in my mind to stay on track with my mileage for the week. Rode most of the way with right leg only, started to bonk on the way home from the excruciating pain in the left ankle. All in all not a bad ride, just not what I wanted.
