    13 miles then *****

went out this afternoon on a trail north of orlando just after a lightning storm so was not 95 degrees for once and oh my! what a difference when the temp is just in the 80's - was doing great and was in the rhythm.... 13 miles in 45 mins, which is great for me..

so all going great until a black mercedes came around the wrong side of a one way exit that crossed the trail and i had to emergency stop and crashed on the road - just crashed myself and not the car-- he didnt even pause so dont think he even saw me even crash... brakes jamming and handlebars at an unusual angle, leg bleeding, i slowly biked back to car and to bike shop... they fixed brakes and handlebar in 20 seconds flat-- left it with them to check over though...

was so relieved i had my cellphone on me and my hemlet on, in case it had been worse... bet my leg is going to be soooo bruised tomorrow!!

all's well that ends well tho' :-)

    batsheva,
I'm sorry about your crash! There seem to be some crazy drivers out lately according to everyone's posts!(i almost got taken out today by a semi, decided to go past me and drifted right at the same time, almost forced me off the road).

Do you race at all? I am down in Ft.Lauderdale, just wondering if you do any of the crits in orlando/lake mary or ever come down south!

Okay, now that Fredwina pointed out the error of my "July 18th Rides" post, I'll repost my July 17th ride, since it won't be July 18th until tomorrow and who knows what ride I'll do then! (Thanks Fredwina! I almost looked up the date to make sure I was right ... Shoulda.)

Hubby and I took the tandem up to Neely's Corner and back. 17.5 miles. 825 feet of climbing. We did our fastest time together yet ... 17.5 average pace. We both felt good and strong. I remember doing it a few weeks ago and I was really pushing it more than I ever had on the tandem, but didn't feel as good as this time, nor did we go as fast, though it was our fastest at that time.

A great ride. The weather was nice. It was a good reminder of why I like to ride, since my last solo ride was so difficult (HOT! ) and our last tandem ride wasn't the best experience either (60 miles to the beach). Today's great rides are the one's that keep me going!
