    feeling wistful

Sitting here drinking a Mikes Hard Lemonade scanning the board, been watching the tour on tv, walking by my bike and giving it a pat now and then...

It's been 10 days - herniated disc in my back has me in agony and sidelined and medicated. Laid in the MRI machine yesterday morning daydreaming about cycling again soon. Doc made me swear to stay off the bike until we know exactly what we are dealing with..

Ticked over 1000 miles for this season on my last ride - bike's collecting dust now.

PS: Doc also made me promise to get another fitting on the bike just to be safe although I know my ride fits me like a glove. I agreed - nothing to lose. Worried about gaining weight - those of you who have gone through significant weight loss and have to focus every day on "maintaining" know the fear I'm talking about..

    hate it..

feeling blue. Even worse - today, I was headed out with the family to pick raspberries (they picked, I can't bend) and down the road comes about 20 members of my bike club just starting their sunday ride. I was so jealous.

Keeping myself very busy: hosting a French exhange student. She barely speaks English. My daughter is returning to France w/ her on Sat for two weeks. Interesting footnote: she finds the English coverage of the Tour hysterical. Not sure exactly why - or perhaps it is my captivated interest she is giggling at hard to tell, language barrier and all that.

She said the Tour once passed by her home.. the SAG vehicles threw Tshirts and gifts to the kids watching along the side of the road.

    Sounds fun.

Sending you peaceful and healing butterflies in green and blue. You need patience now and you need to listen to your doc. Your bike will be there ready for you when you are ready to ride again.

I know how it feels to be off the bike for medical reasons. It's not fun, not fun at all. I stay sane by taking pictures and sharing them with people. If you'd like to get a pretty picture in your email each day, PM me your email address and I'll add you to the list.

I hope your recovery goes perfectly, but please don't rush it. A full recovery is more important than a fast one!

    Hugs and butterflies,
