BEAUTIFUL bike! Here's to many, many smokin' rides with your DH!
"The best rides are the ones where you bite off much more than you can chew, and live through it." ~ Doug Bradbury
Sorry I missed this post. Congratulations!!! I have the same bike, my dh surprised me in March. Yes it is like riding on air, I love it!!! I plan to change the white tape when it gets dirtier, but if I can I would like the silver tape that was on my Dolce. If not, the black on your bike looks great also.
I cannot answer your question about changing the wheel size, but I will say that both my husband and I love PA. When we have a get a way, that is usually where we are headed.
Wishing you much luck with your new ride and your husband also!!!

"I rejoice every time I see a woman ride by on a bike. It gives her a feeling of self-reliance and independence the moment she takes her seat; and away she goes, the picture of untrammelled womanhood."
Susan B. Anthony, 1896
That is SWEET!!! I can totally imagine how you're feeling right now. My first road bike is arriving one week from today!
I have the same bike! It is a great bike. I concur with Rapid Cycler...when you take the plunge... That's a high end bike for your first road bike...but if you know you've got the bug you might as well go for the gusto - otherwise you'd just be upgrading your entry level bike in a year. My poor Allez is just hanging on the bike rack feeling sad that the Ruby gets to go out all the time.
Congrats on your new bike...ride like the wind!
As we must account for every idle word, so must we account for every idle silence." ~Benjamin Franklin
