The most effective way to do it, is to do it.

The puffins were really cool. It was hard to get a good picture of them. They look kind of funny when they fly. Their wings go really fast, but look out of proportion to their bodies.
We also saw porpoises, seals, comorants, terns and three different kinds of gulls.

We did Evans Notch today and did well. We'll post pictures when we return home. I wish it wasn't foggy atop...but alas, we completed our longest sustained climb!
8 Miles straight ascent, averaged 11.8 mph. 800 feet of climbing. The last two miles were a 10% grade. Combined wtih the fact that we have clunky rented mountain bikes, we're pleased!

Sounds like an awesome biking vacation!
A terrible storm hit on Wed. night. Didn't affect us much at all, but it washed out the road we had just ridden that day to Evans Notch!
On Thursday, I wanted to do it again, but chose instead a 32 mile route along Highway 2 from Bethel to Rumford Center, along the Androscroggin River.
At a stop along the way, we found out about the storm that had taken out two major highways and the much less traveled Evans Notch!
But, we're home after 12 hours of travel! Bethel to Boston, Boston to Cincinnati, Cincinnati to home!

OMG! I gained 8 pounds on vacation! Yes, EIGHT POUNDS! It must have been the venom from all those mosquito bites
So Zen, I'm glad I didn't get any Skyline Chili at the airport!
