    Holiday Fun

We had a great time on our cross country holiday. Covered a lot of ground and saw some beautiful sights.

Here are some pics of a cyclist we saw in Chicago.

LOL - just watching this guy get off and on this bike was a treat. He made it look so easy.

Welcome back!!! For some reason I thought you were going to Italy, not across the US. Did you at least have pizza at some point ?

That bike is wild. Did he use a ladder???

LOL - you had a good reason to think that we were off to Italy because well thats what we had planned. Unfortunately the flight times didn't work too well for us and it looked like we would have to come home from Spain. It all seemed a little hard with three kids in tow so we decided to drive across the US and wander where the inclination took us.

This guy was amazing. He just did the old style mounting technique you know with the left leg on the pedal and then pushed along with the right and then just sort of stood up on the left pedal and over went the other leg.

No Im afraid Nina the bikes stayed at home. With five of us we had more than enough junk to haul from place to place. We really like stopping at places along the way and Im always nervous about leaving my bike in or on top of the car at tourist type spots.

Here are a couple of other shots from our trip. We took a stack but I wont bore you to death.

From left to right top to bottom:

    Portland Head Maine

    Tall ships Newport Rhode Island

    Central Park New York City

    Union Station Hotel Nashville Tennessee

We passed through 27 states on our cross country and back road trip.

I'm glad you managed to find about the only architecture worth photographing in Nashville!

27 states! Wow. My son and I did 15 in 13 days in April. I LOVE cross country trips. Him, not so much.

Karen Nooo, I love HIM, but HE doesn't love cross country trips!!!

    What a great trip!

you really covered some ground! The tall bike guy is awesome. There were some of those bikes on last years ALC. I don't know how they deal with wind! or stoplights!

    Great pictures of your holiday!

The bike picture is interesting. Did you manage to see a dismount? I could see no evidence of a bike lock - guess he doesn't have any problem with it being stolen, as you would have to have the correct riding technique for a fast getaway! He would have to be very careful negotiating tree lined pathways/roads and dodge hanging signs. Never seen one like that before. When I was waiting for the picture to download, I thought you may have taken a shot of somebody on a penny farthing bike.
