You guys have probably heard me mention many times over tha past few months about training with my DH. Well he is a fantastic mt biker and not a bad runner for a man of 6'6". He is very competitive and loves to race.
He has totally supported my decision to go Xterra is season and has gone to the last two races as my support. I have been "encouraging" him to get in the pool with me so we can race together, but he coaches in the winter and spring and time is tight. And he is a sinker. He is so tall and so lean his legs just sink.
Well after last w/e race, he decided he wanted to take the next step toward signing up. He found a wetsuit on ebay that fit. It arrived on Thursday and I took him out on Friday OWS and he loved it. The wetsuit made a huge difference for him. I even got him to agree to a pool workout this week. Well he did not run away when I said he really had to do it.
Today he had a choice between going to train with me or going fishing
( which he loves more than life itself), and he chose to train.
I HAVE MY HOOKS IN HIM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor laddie.....

bwaaaaahaaaaa (my evil laugh)....
You gotta suck them in some time. My DH didn't want to start cycling...but I drug him down with me. Then he didn't want to do triathlons...but I got him swimming and now he's doing them.
It's great that you can enjoy doing such healthy things together. I'm thankful every day that we both love to do the same things. We rode for 2.5 hours together today- such a great way to spend time together.
I'm glad your hubby is along for the ride- and right beside you. And he even gave up a day of fishing to go train?Woo hoo- hook, line and sinker.
Watch out tho- we've gotten uncharacteristically competitive with each other now. I'm the faster swimmer, we're the same on the bike (now that I have a wicked mad tri bike- but means he can't get one or he'll speed past me), and he's the faster runner. We're always trying to beat each other at races- he's my fiercest competitor.![]()

That's so cool, rocknroll girl! He's a goner now. It's so great to have someone you love to train with and to share all the great stuff about triathlons and to commiserate with when it gets tough.Due to a total role reversal,my partner and I are having a tough time getting our schedules to coincide for training. She's now working two jobs and I'm working one.I really miss her when it's swim time.I am thinking about a swim safe to keep me doing OWS training.I take my dog with me,but as you can see from my avatar,if you ain't a Frisbee, she ain't dragging you out of the water!!

How cool! Do share with us your "coercion" tactics - LOL. My sweetie will run with me, and soon bike, but I can't quite convince him on the swimming part.
