Many of you read the whiny thread I wrote a while back when RoadRunnerSports discontinued their sports bra. I've been trying to find a new one that works for me. I recently tried 3 different styles from Champion, so I thought I'd post a review.
First, I'm 48 years old. My bust size is a B, but it's more of a B+. Being a bit "older", I'm a bit to the floppier side. What I want in a sports bra is for it to hold me in place and not to chafe. I also sweat like a champ, so cotton is out.
I bought the Double Dry Seamless, the Marathon, and the Seamless Glisten bras, in a size medium or M/L.
The Seamless was very soft and comfortable when I first put it on, although it seemed a bit loose around the chest. This became an issue when I went to run. The chest band rode up. I found myself pulling at it for the entire run. I don't think I bought the wrong size. The material was just not sturdy enough for my needs. On the up side, it didn't chafe. I sent this one back.
The Marathon was also soft, but seemed to be made out of a sturdier material than the Seamless. It's a woven material that has a slight gather between the breasts that I guess is supposed to minimize "uniboob". This bra worked very well. It held me in place during my run, didn't ride up and didn't chafe. It dried very quickly and didn't leave me feeling soggy. I'll keep this one.
The Glisten was even more substantial than the Marathon. The color that I bought: heather gray, wasn't particularly shiny, which was fine with me. This one has knit-in cups. They're self-fabric, not padded so it's essentially a double layer of cloth. It also has the slight gather between the breasts. It fit a bit tighter than the previous 2. It's sized in S,M,L rather than S, S/M, M/L like the other 2. The medium size was still the way to go for me. I loved this one. It held me in place, didn't ride up, and didn't chafe. I wore it all day and had no problems. I'm going to order a few more of these.
All of these bras were between $30-$35.
I'm not associated with Champion or any retail sellers, btw.
