Yeah!! first place in AG, and great job overall. I can't imagine doing 1000yards that fast for the swim. That nutrition can be a pain in the butt, but I know you'll get it figured out. Great job!

So I am sitting in a lodge in the mountains overlooking the lake that we swam in yesterday. The sun is just up over the mountains and a beautiful breeze is blowing...not too shabby. I just need some coffee, but alas, breakfast is not served for 30 more mins.
OK, I will try to keep it short. I did not think it could be harder than race #1. Wrong.
Swim-1000 yards out and back in a lake. Rough mass start.
Time 18:22. I was very happy. Third female out of the water, somewhere in top 12 out of the water overall.
Bike 10 miles, very technical singletrack mixed with crosscountry ski trails. So rough and rocky, mixed with slow and sloggy. Two girls blew by me...more power to them. Got off my bike in 4th pace for women. Good ride.
Time 1:12 mins.
Run 5 miles-lots of big long hills and downhills which are tough on the legs. It was a slog. I felt good for the first 25 mins and then....blammo. I did not want to walk, but I had to walk some of the hills. The other folks on the course with me were walking them too. It was really slow. I was a bit disappointed in myself, but the overall vibe was that the run course sucked.
Time 55 mins (blech)
Overall Time 2:32
5th female overall, 1st in age group.
Great post race party...there were some pro's here and we had lunch with one, not knowing he was a pro, very cool. Got some tips. And we met really nice people. DH gave a girl a chain off his bike when hers broke and then hung with her DH during the race. We have invites to visit them ,and an invite from the race promoters to come visit them.
So I need to work on my hills running off the bike and work on my nutrition. I think that contributed to my bad run. Tough to drink on the bike and eat gels when the terrain is that rough.

Great to hear your about your race! Don't be so hard on yourself, you're one amazing chickie!
When's the next race?
c
Sounds like you did awesome! Congratulations on a good race.
Wow- you're super studly! Those Xterra's are just sooo hard from what I hear! I have a friend who's qualified for Xterra nationals in Utah and she says they are super tough (and she used to be a pro mtn biker- so if she thinks they're hard- they must be). Kudos to you for kicking butt out there yesterday!!!! It was a tough course, and you hung in there like a pro- way to go!!!!!
I know we always ask- but are there pictures??? You should take pictures of the course before or after the race so we can see these killer courses that you're mastering!

The best part about going up hills is riding back down!
Good race report, RnR
And 1st in your cat? Excellent.... 4th off the bikes? Super... I keep getting told that the cycle part is where you can make or break a race (although maybe not so true now so many tris let you draft?)
Well raced, well-timed and well-finished (and well-parteyed!)
What more can be said?
Glad it was a good day for you.![]()
YOU RAWK!!!!![]()

Dang your a speedster! Those xterra courses are suppose to be tough mamas! I'd hate to see what you would do on a regular course! SHEESH!
