    I picked up a free second hand unicycle today.... I really, really want to go out and play with it, but I have a really big race this weekend and I don't want to chance falling off the thing and hurting myself
    I'd love any tips that might be out there for learning to ride this!!

    someone had it posted up for free on Craigslist. Its fairly old, the seat is a bit torn up, but the wheel spins nice and freely.

    Use your hallway first.
    Also start with the pedals in the position where they are parallel to the floor.
    You'll be juggling and riding the unicycle in a sequin outfit before you know it

    Can't give you any tips, but I am happily reminded of the home movies we have of my dad riding a uni-cycle when I was a kid. Back in the day! I don't think he ever got super good at it, but it's fun watching him try in those movies! I bet there's somewhere on the internet you can go for advice. What FlyBye said sounds good. Have fun!
